Kelvey McGinnis
Kelvey McGinnis

Bio

Kelvey joined the women’s soccer team at Paul Smith’s College in the fall of 2016 and became the starting center back for all four years as a Bobcat.  She jumped into a leadership position on the team very early on and was a three-year captain starting her sophomore year.  While pursuing a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences concentrating on wildlife, she had a GPA high enough to be a three-time Academic All-American in the USCAA.

After graduating from Paul Smith’s College, Kelvey moved out to the beautiful state of Wyoming for three months working for the Game and Fish state department.  She moved back to the Adirondacks the summer of 2021 and never looked back!  That summer, Bailey Walton and Zack Luzzi found out she had moved back to the area and immediately sent her the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach position.  For three seasons, Kelvey assisted in guiding the team to two back-to-back YSCC conference championships as well as traveling to the USCAA division 2 National tournament three years running.

The team reached a great milestone of being the National Championship Runners Up in 2021 and has now had the goal and motivation to win the championship.  In January of 2024, Coach McGinnis was named Interim Head Women’s Soccer Coach when Coach Walton had accepted the new opportunity to take over the role of Director of Admissions at Paul Smith’s College.  She graciously was offered and accepted to be the full time Head Women’s Soccer Coach in March 2024 to continue to grow the legacy Coach Walton had started her freshman year.

As well as being Head Coach, Kelvey has taken over the role of Coordinator of Compliance and Academic Support for the student athletes at Paul Smith’s.  She is very excited to grow within her position here and hopes to inspire every student athlete to be the best they can possibly be here at Paul Smith’s College and in their future endeavors.  She currently reside in Rainbow Lake with her boyfriend, Scott and their dog, Maple.
