Lady Bobcats Clinch Final Four Appearance!
Tupper Lake, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College women's hockey team trounced Smith College on Saturday night in a game that saw six different players score goals. They shut out the visitors from Northampton, MA by a score of 13-0 en route to an appearance in the Independent Women's Club Hockey League Adirondack Division Final Four.
Charlotte Kline (Worthington, OH) got things started, and that was all they would need to secure the win. Leah Coulombe (Champlain, NY) and Leola Brown (Brooklyn, NY) each got a hat trick for the Lady Bobcats, while Lola De Toni (Ottawa, Ont) recorded her fourth shutout of the season with 7 saves on the night.
"We're low on numbers, so we're happy with our recent performances," said Coulombe. "We're working hard every night to get ready for the big games ahead of us. I'm excited to see what we can do in the Final Four!"
Abigail Hartley (South Hadley, MA), Kaleigh Koss (Sweet Valley, PA), and Rhoda Peterson (Havre, MT) also scored, while Lillian Gogan (Cornish, NH) Sam Peters (Northfield, OH) and Alli Cherry added assists. Koss, Hartley, and Brown added helpers of there own, and Kline was chosen as Player of the Game for logging heavy minutes on the blueline and netting the game winner for PSC.
Kline has been with the program since the beginning, and has been a leader for the team since she arrived her freshman year. "After working hard to build this program up from nothing 4 years ago, it feels very rewarding to be able to make the Final Four as a senior," said Kline. "We are excited to be able to represent PSC and continue the growing success of this program."
With the win, the Paul Smith's College women's hockey team secures a spot in the semi-finals at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA on Saturday, February 18th against either the University of New England or UMass Lowell. If they win that game, they'll play for the IWCHL Adirondack Division Championship Trophy the following day.
