Brad Rideout was hired as the new head women’s basketball coach in May of 2022. Coach Rideout comes to Paul Smith’s College with over 35 years of coaching experience and the recruitment of players all over the world.

Rideout’s most recent stop was at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont as the head women’s coach before the college closed its doors in 2019. While there, he amassed over 100 career victories as a head coach. He also helped his daughter become one of the school's top 1,000 point scorers as well as a record holder in 3-pointers made in a single season and 3-pointers made in a career. In addition to his daughter’s accomplishments, her teammate - Brittany Fraiser - became a dominant rebounding force.

Rideout comes to PSC having coached at all levels ranging from AAU, high school, and the collegiate level. His collegiate stops as an men’s assistant coach were at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, Trevecca Nazarene University located in Nashville, Tennessee, and Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

While at Messiah from 1989-1993, Rideout helped the team earn its first Mid-America Conference Northwest Crown during the 1990-1991 season with a 12-4 conference record.

At Trevecca Nazarene from 1993-1998 and again from 2000-2002, Rideout assisted in all aspects of rebuilding the men’s team which started off with a 5-26 record in his first year and improved to a 21-12 record while becoming a consistent winner. During that time he helped David Blanford, one of the university's best players to have worn a Trojan uniform, rise to the top of several all-time statistical categories.

Rideout made the switch to coaching girls while in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania as the head coach at his alma mater Chambersburg High School. He has also led high school girls’ programs at Greencastle High School in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, North Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, Pennsylvania, and Mill River Union High School in North Clarendon, Vermont.

In addition to his years coaching at the collegiate and high school levels Rideout has spent his summers working basketball camps along the East Coast, including George Lehman’s, Golden Valley, the University of Kentucky, and the University of Maryland.

Coach Rideout holds a Bachelors in Science as well as a Masters of Science in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. Rideout is a native of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and is married to former Carlisle, Pennsylvania native Karen Hartzell. They have 3 lovely daughters - Mercedes, Diamanta, and Samera, and a precious pup Sophie.
