Paul Smith's, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College women's basketball team split this weekend's home contests, winning their game Saturday then dropping a game to the #1 ranked team in the nation the following day. The Lady Bobcats soared to a 77-57 win over the NHTI Lynx and fell to the Central Maine CC Mustangs 71-35.
In Saturday's matchup with the Lynx, the Bobcats got contributions from everyone, but one player in particular had a career game. Hayleigh Gates (West Winfield, NY) recorded her first collegiate triple-double, finishing with 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. Jayla Gray (Smithfield, VA) secured her eighth double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 21 rebounds. Gray has been dominant on the glass all year, breaking her own rebounding record for the fourth time this season. Holly Bagley (Bloomfield, NY) secured her second doubledouble of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Abbey Bateman (Edmeston, NY) dropped in 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Jaylah Greene (Barstow, CA) and Brooke D'Amato (Waterbury, CT) gave a spark off the bench, contributing eight and five points, respectively. Greene also collected nine rebounds.
On Sunday, the overpowering Mustangs from Central Maine were too much for the Bobcats to tame. Gray continued to show her versatility and impact in the paint, finishing with a team high nine points on 3/5 shooting and 10 rebounds. Bagley contributed six points and four rebounds, while Greene collected six rebounds on the day.
