PSC Trap Shooters Hit Their Targets Nationally
Paul Smiths, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College Trap Shooting Team wrapped up a successful fall 2022 season with a series of impressive performances at both the conference and national level. Paul Smith's College competes in the USA Clay Target League which serves as a feeder for Olympic and professional trap shooting.
Nationally, there are over 300 ranked collegiate trap shooters. PSC is proud to have two trap shooters make a coveted top-20 spot; Seth Miller who ranked 10th, and Jacob Fontaine who ranked 17th in the U.S. Both Seth and Jacob went on to participate in the USA Sporting Clays National Championship this fall where Seth tied for 6th and Jacob tied for 19th. The top female shooter this season was Kendra McGraw who tied for 31st nationally. Collectively, the 24-member Paul Smith's Trap Shooting team received a National Championship ranking of 12th.
Head Coach Brett McLeod reflected on the success of the season and what it means for Paul Smith's College. "The fact that Paul Smith's College has so many top trap shooters says a lot about the students we attract." McLeod continued, "Our students love the outdoors and excel at literally every outdoor pursuit from shooting sports like trap and biathlon to canoeing and lumberjack sports. I can't think of a better place to be an athlete."
