PSC Rock Climbing Starts USAC Competition

This fall the Paul Smith's College Climbing Team expanded their competition schedule to include a USA Climbing Collegiate Series local event at Central Rock Gym in Syracuse, NY. USA Climbing is the governing body for competition climbing in the United States and the Open and Youth Series have long been the building blocks of the USA national team.

PSC Climbing Team members will continue to compete in a variety of collegiate and citizens competition formats, but the USAC competition in Syracuse was a great way for students to measure themselves against a larger pool of competitors from schools in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut that make up the Northeast Region in this series. A notable performance was displayed by Bre-Ann Flouton Johnson (Senior) finishing in 13th place in the female bouldering category. A similar performance at the Regional Championships this spring could earn her a first round invitation to the National Championships. Everyone on the team has been working hard at practices this fall. Stay tuned for more competition results in the spring semester.
