Bobcats Continue Dominant Season at Prospect Mountain
Woodford, VT ~ The Paul Smith's Nordic team are showing no signs of slowing down as they continue their dominant season in the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference (ECSC) at the Prospect Mountain Invitational. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the Bobcats showcased their skills and determination, leaving their competitors in awe.
Day 1 of the invitational kicked off with a 15k Mass Start Classic Race. Aidan Ripp (Cloquet, MN) took a commanding win as he left a four-minute gap between himself and the rest of the field. Following closely behind were teammates Philip Matthews (Half Moon, NY) and Diego Schillaci (New Paltz, NY), finishing in third and fourth place, respectively. Timothy Ziegler (Marquette, MI) also put on an impressive performance as he secured a respectable 12th place.
The women's team mirrored the effort of the men as Dolcie Tanguay (Fort Kent, ME) took the win by two minutes. Jessie Church (Bethlehem, NH) finished in ninth place, while Kaisa Bosek (Alexandria, MN) showed her skills with a great race, finishing in 11th place. The men's team claimed victory, while the women narrowly finished in second to Middlebury by just three points.
Day 2 of the contest presented its own set of challenges as the Skate Sprints were marred by timing issues. Consequently, the races were shortened to one round in the men's race. Aidan Ripp once again showcased his dominance, taking first place, with Diego Schillaci following closely behind in 3rd place. Unfortunately, the women's results were unofficial due to incorrect qualification times, rendering them unable to be considered official.
Looking ahead, the Bobcats will be returning to their home course on February 3rd and 4th for the highly anticipated Bobcat Invitational at the Phil Saunders Nordic Stadium, located at the Paul Smiths VIC. With their exceptional performances thus far, the team is eager to continue their winning streak and make their mark in the ECSC.
