Tanguay Qualifies for Junior World Championships
Paul Smiths, NY ~ Paul Smith's College is proud to announce that biathlete Dolcie Tanguay has qualified for her second IBU Junior World Championships. The prestigious event will be hosted in Estonia in February. Tanguay's exceptional performance at the US Junior Trials at Mt. Itasca, Minnesota secured her spot in the competition among the world's top junior biathletes.
Tanguay's journey to the Junior World Championships was marked by determination and outstanding achievements. With two second-place finishes and a remarkable first-place finish, she showcased her unwavering dedication and talent at the US Junior Trials. "I am so happy for Dolcie; she set some great goals and worked incredibly hard to achieve them," said head Nordic Ski coach Matt Dougherty.
This will be Tanguay's second appearance at the Junior World Championships, a testament to her consistently superlative perfomance. Last year she proudly represented the United States in various international competitions, including the World University Games, IBU Junior Cup, Open European Junior Championships, and the Junior World Championships. Her remarkable abilities and commitment to the sport have earned her a well-deserved place on the US team for the second consecutive year.
"Dolcie is a role model student athlete; we couldn't be more excited for her and we are so proud of her accomplishments," said Zack Luzzi, Paul Smith's College Athletic Director. "We are looking forward to rooting her while skiing for both Team USA & Paul Smith's College. Her accomplishments are a testament to the dedication in her training and discipline in the class room."
While Tanguay's sights are set on the upcoming World Championships, she has decided to stay stateside for most of the season. This decision allows her to focus on the college racing season where she will continue to hone her skills and further elevate her performance. After participating in the college circuit, Tanguay will head to Europe to compete against the world's best junior biathletes.
Paul Smith's College is immensely proud of Dolcie's accomplishments and her unwavering dedication to her sport. As a student athlete, she exemplifies the college's commitment to fostering excellence in both academics and athletics. Tanguay's achievements serve as an inspiration to her peers and a testament to the outstanding opportunities available at Paul Smith's College.
