Jericho, VT ~ The Paul Smith's College Biathlon Team competed in the United States Biathlon Rollerski National Championships in Jericho, VT over the weekend. Five Bobcats represented Paul Smith's College at the event which was held at the Ethan Allen Biathlon Club in conjunction with the Vermont National Guard.

The 1-2 podium finish for the Bobcats was a huge step toward becoming a perennial powerhouse at the collegiate level.
On the men's side, PSC's Diego Schillaci (New Paltz, NY) had a strong showing in the Sprint, finishing seventh, firmly in the middle of the pack against some of the best Junior Biathletes in the country. Nate Livingood (Falmouth, ME) and Aidan Ripp (Cloquet, MN) also competed for the Bobcats.
Sunday's competition featured a Mass Start on the women's side and a Pursuit event for the men. Moving up to compete against Olympian Deedra Irwin in the Senior Women's Division, Tanguay and Bosek finished in eighth and eleventh place, respectively.
Head Coach Matt Dougherty was thrilled to see how well his group did competing against some of the best biathletes in the nation, with Bosek gaining significant recognition by winning the sharp shooter award for the weekend. "What a great start to the year for the Bobcat biathletes - both Dolcie and Kaisa have had a great summer of training and did some incredible racing," said Dougherty. "It has taken years of hard work and dedication to get these results and I am really happy for them. It should be another amazing year for them both. Diego Schillaci is making tremendous progress this year as well, shifting his focus from bike racing to biathlon. His result this weekend was incredibly high quality."
The team finishes summer training with this competition and will gear up for the season ahead. The Biathlon team will continue to develop and train in preparation for the USCSA National Championships in Fort Kent, ME in March. Tanguay and Bosek have brought their international pedigree to the team, having won spots on the IBU Jr. Cup team last season while earning the opportunity to compete in Europe. Tanguay also competed for US Biathlon at the World Championships.
