Bobcats Overpower Roos at Home
Saranac Lake, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College Men's Hockey Team had a statement 10-3 win last Friday in their Upstate New York Collegiate Hockey League (UNYCHL) Division II East Division matchup up against the visiting SUNY Canton Kangaroos.
Attila Quesnel (Montreal, QC, Canada) scored five goals and added three assists for an impressive eight points has he and linemates Colin Palmer (Clifton Park, NY) and Hazen Stoufer (East Montpelier, VT) dominated the Roos from start to finish, accounting for seven of the Bobcats' 10 goals.
"Our line was clicking from the start," said Quesnel. "We were on our game the whole night, and there's no better feeling in the world than getting a W and scoring five," he added.
Linemates Palmer and Stoufer each tallied a goal and three assists each as they showed why they are one of the best trios in the league. Also scoring was Gianluca Minicozzi (Montreal, QC, Canada), who notched his first goal on a nice setup from Palmer.
"Words can't describe such an amazing feeling of scoring that goal," said Minicozzi.
The first-year player's goal was the first of five first-period goals by the Bobcats, who chased out the Roos' starting goaltender in less than 20 minutes. Former high school and junior league teammates Julien Shafer (Queensbury, NY) and Nick Ogden (Queensbury, NY) rounded out the scoring while Mike Hansen (New Hartford, NY), Tristan Côté (Shannon, QC, Canada), and Caden Engle (Clinton, NY) added solo assists. Dylan Sauve (Wappingers Falls, NY) and Ogden also added two helpers in the win.
Senior captain Dylan Jannarone (Brick, NJ), who was +2 on the night, reflected on the win. "It was a much-needed win - they were a talented team and we came together at home and put together a dominant performance," said Jannarone. "Super proud of my teammates and hope to carry over that energy into the rest of the season."
