Bio

Coach Lamay is entering his first season with the Bobcats. He comes to Paul Smith’s College with a great degree of basketball coaching experience that spreads across a variety of levels, including AAU, High School, Junior College, and Four Year University programs.

He returns back to the northern New York area having been born and raised locally, the son of a long-time high school boy’s basketball coach.

Lamay is a graduate of SUNY Canton, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Fitness, and went on to become an assistant Men’s basketball coach, helping the program to a 16-6 regular season record in his first year with the Roos.

Following his time at SUNY Canton, Coach Lamay went on to lead the varsity basketball program at nearby, Potsdam High School. At Potsdam, he helped the team reach its best record in over a decade, in his inaugural season with the program.

Having also served as the head coach of a local AAU basketball program, and helping athletes get recruited to the collegiate level, Tim rejoined the collegiate coaching ranks, joining North Country as an assistant coach. From there, he received a head coaching opportunity at SUNY Jefferson. Coach Lamay spent two seasons at Jefferson, which was his last stop before returning to Northern New York and taking over the program at Paul Smith’s College.

Lamay comes to Paul Smiths with a .767 coaching record as a head coach, having coached over a dozen all-league players and earning a conference coach of the year award in his career. He has successfully recruited and coached student-athletes from all over the country.
