Clemens to leave Bobcats
PAUL SMITHS N.Y. - After eight seasons of dedicated service to the Men's Basketball program, Coach Josh Clemens has made the difficult decision to step down from his position at Paul Smith's College and accept the role of Assistant Coach at Alleghany College in Pennsylvania. Coach Clemens first joined the Basketball staff in 2015 as a student assistant and has served in various roles since then, including Head Coach for both the Men's and Women's Basketball programs.
During his four seasons as the head coach of the Men's Basketball program, Coach Clemens achieved a record of 34-42 (.447). While in his one season serving as the Head Coach for the Women's Basketball program, his record stood at 10-11 (.467). He was responsible for recruiting and developing the USCAA National Student Athlete of the Year, three USCAA All-American Selections, eight USCAA Academic All-American selections, four YSCC All Conference Selections, and 32 Dean's Lists Honorees.
Expressing his gratitude, Coach Clemens stated, "It is never easy leaving a community like Paul Smith's. It will always be a home away from home for me and hold a special place in my heart. When I first came to campus over a decade ago to become a student, I never knew how much this place would shape me as a person, and I want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey." He also expressed his appreciation to previous Athletic Director Jim Tucker and current Athletic Director Zack Luzzi for their mentorship and trust in him as a coach.
“Josh has helped grow the Men’s & Women’s Basketball teams immensely during his time at PSC and we will miss him but, we absolutely wish him the best of luck on his journey.”
As the college prepares for this transition, a thorough search process will be initiated to identify the next leader for the Basketball program. Coach Brad Rideout will handle the recruitment and retention of the men's program and will serve as the interim coach until a new coach is named.
