Chloe Mattilio Repeats as First Team All American at USCAA XC Nationals
Chloe Mattilio paced the Bobcats to an 8th place team finish as she takes 6th to Earn First Team All American Honors.

Paul Smith’s College Results
Conditions: wet (rain, and wet slippery conditions) cool (40 degrees F).
Sophomore Chloe Mattilio became the first Paul Smith’s College runner to repeat as a First Team All American in Cross Country, as she finished sixth at the USCAA Cross Country Nationals at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse on the 6K course. Chloe finished the 6K course in 24:15 to establish a new Paul Smith’s College record for the 6K distance, while taking 9 seconds off her time from 2013 when she finished fourth on the same course. There were a total of 178 finishers in the women’s 6K championship event.
The women’s team placed eighth overall with 196 points, with eighteen complete teams taking part in this year’s USCAA National race. Ashley Evans (Marietta, NY/Tully HS) placed 35th/24 points in 26:18, followed by freshman Jess Setter (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendahowa HS) in 54th/40 points in 27:32. Corrie Desilets (JR: North Attleboro, MA/Tri-County Regional Vocational – Technical HS) was the fourth Lady Bobcat to finish in 70th/50 points in 28:42, followed by Lea Anthony (SR: New Bedford, MA/Greater New Bedford Regional HS) in 94th/71 points in 29:45.
The women’s individual winner, Elaine Lowe is a repeat winner from Cleary College, taking first in 23:04, followed by teammate Natasha Stevenson in 23:16. Tatiyanania Johnson (Diné) finished third in 23:18, and Jessica Monzyk (Albany College of Pharmacy) placed fourth in 23:41, with Anne Crotteau (Illinois Tech) in fifth in 24:14.
Diné College (AZ) won the women’s USCAA XC nationals with a team score of 37, followed by Cleary College (MI) with 88 points, followed by SUNY – ESF with 94 and Illinois Tech with 96 points.
Men’s 8K Summary: Joe St. Cyr (FR: Methuen, MA/The Brooks School) was the top Bobcat to finish the National 8K in 30:06 in 57th/48 points, with Jack Mulvihill (SR: Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro HS) in 30:37 for 66th/54 points. Chris Peterson (SR: Brookfield, CT/Brookfield HS) finished in 31:08 for 79th/62nd place followed by Tyler Dezago (FR: Rhinebeck, NY/Rhiebeck HS) in 31:13 for 81st/64 points. Louis Ferrone (JR: East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse – Minoa HS) rounded out the top five with a time of 31:30 for 88th place/68 points. There were a total of 188 finishers in the men’s national race.
The men’s team finished in 9th place with 296 points. There were 21 complete teams taking part. SUNY ESF won with 39 points, followed by Diné College (AZ) with 58 points and SUNY Alfred placed third with 88 points.
Tim Callaghan of SUNY ESF was a repeat winner, in 26:46, followed by Tyler Logg (Diné College) in 26:58 and Keith Johnson (Alfred State) in 27:10 and Josh Keenan (Florida College) in fourth in 27:26, and Stephen Slonosky (SUNY ESF) took fifth in 27:38.
The PSC XC team will soon be heading onto the snow covered trails for snowshoe racing and Nordic skiing through the winter months and no doubt covert to canoe paddling for the spring season. The complete PSC individual results follow.
