Volleyball Nabs First Round Playoff Bye With Win Over WOLBI
Paul Smiths, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College Volleyball Team secured second place in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) standings with a stellar performance against Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) on Wednesday night.
Leading the way was Maddi Rhodes (Charlotte, NC) who had a standout game, delivering a team-high 10 kills on 16 attempts, two service aces, and 10 digs. Sophomore Finnley Jacobson (Vergennes, VT), fresh off being named YSCC and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week, continued her dominance with seven kills, two assists, two service aces, and an impressive five solo blocks. Kaliyah Davis (Queensbury, NY) and Jordan Louis (Crystal, NM) both added six kills, while Alli Cherry (Grasonville, MD) and Ali Russell was (Old Forge, NY) chipped in with five kills each.
The passing game was sharp as always, with Cherry contributing 15 assists and Louis adding 10 assists. Defensively, Davis, Jacobson, and Cherry all recorded 20+ digs. Davis led the charge with 29, Jacobson contributed 21, and Cherry added 20.
Paul Smith's College has been steadily moving up the USCAA rankings and currently occupy sixth place nationally with an overall record of 11-5. The Bobcats have a short break before returning to the court on Tuesday, October 15th, for an out-of-conference matchup against SUNY Potsdam, with the first serve at 6:00 PM.
