Spikers Split Against NCAA Division III Opponents
Delhi, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College volleyball team split the day at the SUNY Delhi out-of-conference tri-meet last weekend, defeating the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Trailblazers in straight sets and falling to the SUNY Delhi Broncos.
In the first game on Saturday against NCAA DIII competition the Bobcats swept the Trailblazers with a dominant performance. Sophomore Finnley Jacobson (Vergennes, VT) continued her impressive offensive run, leading the team with 14 kills, three service aces, and 15 digs. Kaliyah Davis (Queensbury, NY) contributed seven kills and 18 digs while grad student Alli Cherry (Grasonville, MD) orchestrated the offense with 14 assists, 13 digs, and four kills. Jordan Louis added 10 assists, eight digs, and three kills. Contributions from Kaleigh Koss (Sweet Valley, PA), Karlye Murphy (Hilton, NY), and Ali Russell (Old Forge, NY), who each added an assist, helped seal the win.
In the second match, the Bobcats faced a tough SUNY Delhi squad, falling in straight sets but battling to the bitter end. Jacobson had six kills, seven digs, and three solo blocks. Cherry added five assists, four kills, and eight digs while Russell chipped in with one kill, one solo block, and six digs. Louis contributed across the board with one kill, three assists, nine digs, and an assisted block.
Despite the loss, the Bobcats demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout the tri-meet,
continuing to build on their season's progress. They are back on the road on Saturday, September 28th, for another Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) quad match at WOLBI in Chestertown, NY.
