Volleyball Drops Season Opener Against SUNY Canton
Canton, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College Women's Volleyball Team battled hard in their season opener on Wednesday night, but ultimately fell to SUNY Canton in three sets.
Sophomore Kaliyah Davis (Queensbury, NY) led the way with 8 kills and 11 digs while fellow sophomore Finnley Jacobson (Vergennes, VT) added 5 kills, 6 digs, and a block. Jacobson also dominated at the service line, recording an impressive 5 service aces. Senior Alli Cherry (Grasonville, MD) contributed 5 kills, 9 digs, and 6 assists, while also notching 2 service aces. Senior Ali Russell (Old Forge, NY) had a solid performance with 4 kills, 2 digs, and 2 service aces.
Jordan Louis (Crystal, NM) was pivotal in setting up the offense with a team-high 9 assists while also collecting 7 digs. Maddi Rhodes (Charlotte, NC) added 9 digs and chipped in 2 service aces, playing a key role in both defense and service.
Although the Bobcats couldn't come away with the win, their individual efforts showcased the potential for a strong season ahead. The team will look to regroup and aim for their first victory on the road against SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday, September 10th.
