Women’s Rugby Wins Game at Plattsburgh TNT Tourney
Plattsburgh, NY ~ The Paul Smith's College women's rugby team took game 1 of the Plattsburgh TNT 10s tourney against Hamilton College before dropping the next two games to Potsdam and Plattsburgh.
The opening match saw a close battle between the Bobcats and the Conts which ended in a 17-15 PSC victory as the team played strong as a unit. Sam Andrejack (Montrose, PA) scored the first try for the Bobcats, followed by Nora Leathauser (Lebanon, NH) and Olivia Kardohely. Leuthauser buried a conversion kick at the end of the game to earn the win.
The next two games against SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Plattsburgh were quite physical, as both teams were able to move the ball with power and deeper benches. Game 2 saw the Bears beat the Bobcats 28-17. Seanna Neiss (Groton, NY) would score her first try for the team while Leuthauser and Ashlee Laemlein also scored.
The last match was a 25-12 victory for the host Cardinals as PSC moved to 1-2 on the day while capping off a fun tournament. Nora Leuthauser showcased her impressive foot skills by converting 3/5 kicks. Three alumni (Kardohely, Kianna Hanson, and Emi Anderson) helped round out the Bobcat roster while supporting the current squad.
