PSC Bobcat Harriers Enjoy Solid Improved Performances - Cross Country Only Championships
Given the flat course along the Seneca Lake shoreline, the PSC XC Runners improved dramatically over the 6K (women) and 8K men's times from their previous efforts this season.
Men's 8K and Women's 6K
CCOC Invitational – Geneva, NY
15 October 2022
Both Wes Burkit and Ellen Haas had fine individual 6K performances and earned top 20 event t-shirts on Saturday, as Wes finished 4th with a time of 26:40.7 and Ellen finished 11th in 27:35.2. This was Ellen's fastest collegiate XC race, as she averaged 4:36 per kilometer over the 6K. Ellen earned All YSCC honors last season and second team All American in Virginia Beach as a freshman. Her hard work and determination to improve from week to week is really showing during her practice sessions and in races this fall.
Wes looked quite comfortable finishing in 4th with a time of 26:40.7 while dealing with the gale force winds off Seneca Lake.
Ellie Judice looked so much more comfortable this week as she ran the 6K in 32:34. This was Ellie's fastest pace of the 2022 season, and we look for continued improvement as we prepare for the YSCC Championships in two weeks.
On the men's side, Paul Smith's was led by Ryan Chiari who skipped over the 31 minute barrier to finish in 30:49.5 in the 8K men's event. Ryan placed 23rd overall and paced the Paul Smith's College team to a 4th place team finish.
Alex Cameron placed second for the Bobcat men with a time of 31:21.2, followed by Captain Zack Sprott – Scribner in 31:28.9. Logan Krahn finished in 36th place with a time of 31:51.1. Carson Wohlers rounded out the Bobcat top five with a time of 33:47.2 finishing just ahead of teammate Nate Shader, who was only .4 seconds behind. The men's team finished with 128 points.
The complete PSC results follow.
The team will be taking part in the 29th annual Pumpkin McMuffin 5K Fun Run at the Paul Smith's College VIC next Saturday with an 11 AM start. This is a costume race as well as a guess your time event to bring runners of all ages together to celebrate one another's fellowship, enjoy running among the autumn leaves and having pumpkin muffins and fresh cold apple cider. This event is also held in memory of Nic G. Pendl who died way too early from complications associated with an epileptic seizure. He was an awesome classmate and fellow endurance athlete through his freshman year. We hope to honor his legacy at the college each year with this Pumpkin McMuffin Fun Run.
