Men's Basketball Wins Thriller in Maine, Lady Bobcats Fall
Augusta, ME ~ The Paul Smith's College men's basketball team won a thriller on Wednesday night, defeating University of Maine-Augusta 89-88 in an important Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) game.
The Bobcats used a strong second half to secure the victory in a nail-biter that came down to the last play. Howard Turner (Brooklyn, NY) had an impressive night coming off the bench, earning his first double-double of the season. He finished with 24 points on 6/10 shooting behind the arc while grabbing a team high 12 rebounds. The Bobcats had a well-balanced scoring effort with Elijiah Pratt (Queens Village, NY), Anthony Henson (Orlando, FL), and Sayvion Daniel (Roosevelt, NY) finishing with 17 points each. Pratt dished out a team high nine assists and Daniel earned a double-double in the efforts with 10 rebounds. Anthony Frasier (Johnstown, NY) finished the night with six points, including the game winning offensive putback with 0.6 seconds on the clock.
The Paul Smith's College women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup on Wednesday night, falling 80-48 to University of Maine-Augusta on the road.
Jordan Louis (Crystal, NM) dropped a game high 20 points, nailing four 3-pointers on the night while contributing four steals. Hayleigh Gates (West Winfield, NY) and Jayla Gray (Smithfield, VA) continued their dominance on the boards collecting nine and seven rebounds respectively. Holly Bagley (Bloomfield, NY) had a solid night finishing with nine points and six rebounds.
