Paul Smith's Carroll Coaches at SUNY Canton Basketball Camp
Incoming freshman Kris Carroll teaches skills and fundamentals to youth.
Incoming freshman guard Kris Carroll jumped at the opportunity to teach basketball fundamentals to the youth in North Country. For three days Kris did so at the SUNY Canton basketball camp. During the three day camp, Kris intructed campers on how to shoot, pass, dribble, and play defense.
On why he chose to do the camp, Carroll stated. "I love giving back to kids for the simple fact that there were many older figures that did the same for me when it came to basketball at a young age. Also this opportunity allowed me the opportunity to spend time with Coach Boone and continue to build the strong relationship we have."
"I learned a lot from working the camp. I learned that there are boys and girls all over that eager and willing to learn about the game. All of them varying in age and skill level still putting in the hard work striving to get better at a game they love to play." Carroll also said about what he learned from the camp.
"My favorite part of camp was connecting with campers and providing lifelong memories. I still remember my counselors from when I attended camps and I just wanted to replicate that for the campers. I also enjoyed the competition games where I could see all the drills we were doing for the past days actually working and then being a role-model they can look up to." Carroll said about his experience working the camp.
"This was a great experience for Kris. One of our values is giving back and Kris exemplified that through this camp. His interactions with the campers were genuine and we are excited for him to join us at Paul Smith's," Coach Boone stated on Kris's participation in the camp.
