All Three PSC Boats Finish Top-5 in Point Au Roche
Point Au Roche, NY ~ It was a banner weekend for the Paul Smith's College Bass Fishing Team.
Each of the three boats competing finished in the top-5 at the North Country Bass Anglers (NCBA) tournament held on Lake Champlain, based out of Point Au Roche on Saturday.
The boat of Finn Rugg (Hinesburgh, VT) earned second place with a haul of 20.74 pounds, followed by Jessica Hickey (Tewksbury, MA) and PSC bass fishing coach Brett Wimsatt with 19.66 pounds in third place. Hickey also caught the second-biggest bass of the tournament, a 5.78lb lunker largemouth that was only 2 ounces short of the biggest catch of the entire competition.
Mason Coburn (Colchester, VT) and his father rounded out the boats representing Paul Smith's College, finishing in fifth place with a combined catch of 19.06 pounds.
The duos battled 22 other teams, making the top-5 finishes even that much more impressive. Taking home second and third place trophies, the bass fishing team is finding their stride ahead of the NCBA championship weekend on September 28th-29th. They'll fish Lake Flower on Saturday the 28th and then Lake Champlain out of the Chazy River on Sunday the 29th. Scores from both days will be added together and the team with the biggest aggregate haul will win.
