The Bobcats, led by Ryan McGowan, Ryan Kelley, Connor McCuin, James Chamberlain and Layne Darfler won their first YSCC Championships
Paul Smith's College Wins the 2012 Yankee Small College Conference
Bowling Championship in Hallowell, Maine
Paul Smith's College captured the YSCC Bowling Championship at Sparetime Recreation in Hallowell, ME on Sunday April 15th. Paul Smith's entered the tournament as the #1 seed after leading the conference in points for the regular season. In the quarterfinals, the Bobcats defeated #8 University of Maine Augusta (Bangor campus) 545.2 – 327. In the semi-finals, Paul Smith's came back from 13-point deficit after two games to defeat Eastern Maine Community College (Bangor, ME) 492.2 – 467.6 to move to the Championship Match against NHTI. EMCC defeated #4 Unity College in the quarterfinals.
NHTI entered as the #6 seed, and knocked off #3 UMA (Augusta, ME campus) 487.2 – 464 in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, NHTI upset the #2 seed Great Bay Community College (Portsmouth, NH) by 6.2 points to head into the finals.
In the finals, Paul Smith's College jumped out to an early 20.8 lead, led by Ryan McGowan's 235 games. The Bobcats extended their lead to 54.8 after the second game and went on to win by a total of 489.4 – 453.6 to capture the 2012 YSCC Bowling Championship. Along with McGowan, Ryan Kelley, Connor McCuin, James Chamberlain and Layne Darfler are members of the Championship team. The first year team is coached by Philip Dybfest-Muha.
