Great Bay moves on to YSCC Men's Championship with 95-67 win over Paul Smith's

AUBURN, Maine (YSCC) – The #6 seeded Great Bay Heron's men's basketball team defeated the #7 seed Paul Smith's Bobcats to kick off our men's YSCC Final Four action, earning a 95-67 victory on Saturday, March 4th. 

Great Bay came out strong, with an early 9-0 lead. The Herons would stay ahead and stretch their lead to 20 points, leading by a score of 40-20 with 2:45 remaining in the first half. Theodore Wolfe was a monster in the post and Paul Smith's could not find the answer. 

Great Bay would take a commanding 44-22 lead into halftime. The YSCC All-Conference duo of Kingsley Breen and Theodore Wolfe were unstoppable in the first half, combining for 25 points. Paul Smith's Anthony Henson, the YSCC regular season scoring leader and All-Conference First-Team selectee, had ten first-half points to lead the Bobcats.

Paul Smith's kept fighting, cutting the deficit to 18 with 15:00 remaining in the game. Great Bay would not go away, as Theodore Wolfe continued to score at will in the paint. Wolfe reached the 20-point mark with 13:23 to go in the contest. 

The second half of the game proved similar to the first, which featured a dominant showing by Great Bay. Thanks to their sizable lead, the Herons utilized their depth in the second half. With Kingsley Breen and Theodore Wolfe on the bench, Alex Tavares took over. With 3:58 remaining, he had totaled 16 points, including a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc. 

Wolfe would finish with 20 for the Herons, while Breen and Tavares added 16 points each. The Herons dominated from start to finish, but we must note that Anthony Henson and the Bobcats kept fighting. Henson would finish with an impressive 27 points.

Great Bay advances to the YSCC Championship Game, which will be played Sunday, March 5th at 2 PM at Central Maine CC.
