Bobcats Victorious at Home
PAUL SMITHS — The Pauls Smith’s College women’s soccer team displayed a dominant offensive in the team’s 9-2 victory over the Word of Life Huskies on Tuesday evening at home.
The Bobcats have won their first two games of the season away with scores of 5-0 and 6-0. The Paul Smith’s College women’s soccer team were finally able to play at home for the first time in almost two years.
“Everyone was so amped up to being playing at home for the first time in what feels like forever,” Paul Smith’s coach Bailey Walton said. “Energy and nerves were high today. I think our nerves cost us two goals unfortunately”
Samantha Severing started off the scoring this game with two pretty immediate goals into the half. Gates added in a third before the 20-minute mark. Word of Life’s offense answered back just soon after when Bristyl Krentz scored two consecutive goals to bring the Huskies within one goal of tying the match.
The Bobcats finished the half strong with the team scoring three goals to end the half. Grace Kronick, Kate Roefs and Keeley Van ValKenburgh each scored to make the game 6-2.
Severing, Ruth Marscham and Allie Lamb each scored in the second hald to close out the game with a final score of 9-2. Severing finished the home game with a hat-trick.
The Bobcats’ dominant offense, which has scored 20 goals in three games, will likely be a major factor in the team’s success going forward as they enter conference play next weekend.
Even though the team had a successful victory, the team will still try to find things to improve upon.
“Our defense had an off game today” Walton said. “I think our nerves really got the best of us. It’s our first home game in two years but that being said it’s been really exciting and we are all so grateful to finally be able to play here.”
The Bobcats will travel to New Hampshire for their first conference game versus the New Hampshire Technical Institute Lynx on Saturday before returning back home to take on Central Maine Community College on Sept. 25.
