Bobcats Close September with Impactful Weekend
Paul Smiths N.Y. –
Parents weekend wasn’t the only reason for fireworks on campus this past weekend. With multiple teams in action the Bobcats were able to add 2 more State Championships to the trophy case, celebrate an incredible over time win on the pitch, and host another successful home golf tournament.
“There are plenty of ways to earn #3 in Innovative Colleges, but certainly in athletic and recreational pursuits, our Smittys take full advantage of the opportunities presented” , Athletic Director Jim Tucker adds. “It is incredible to have our bass fishing team once again win the NYS Collegiate Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake George to follow up on our initial state title in 2017, while our marathon canoe team retained the NYS Collegiate C-4 Mixed (two men/two women) title on Long Lake. This is the 7th time the canoe team has won the state title since 2009. “
Meanwhile our women's soccer team remained undefeated with a challenging 1 - 0 overtime win over conference foe, CMCC. Although men's soccer fell to CMCC 3 - 0, the 200+ spectators remained to the end, supporting their Bobcats. There is no doubt that our students and family members support our Bobcats in greater numbers than any other team in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC).
The golf team hosted regional NCAA schools, St. Lawrence University and SUNY Canton at Saranac Inn Country Club, and although Paul Smith's College placed third, it is awesome to know attract these schools to our home course amidst the fall foliage and great greens of our "home" course.
