Peterson Set to Join Bobcats
PAUL SMITHS N.Y. – Rhoda Peterson, of Havre Montana, has officially committed to joining Paul Smith’s College next season. Peterson who will be playing both soccer and hockey for the Bobcats comes from Havre High School where she competed on both the boy’s and girl’s hockey teams. While attending Havre, Peterson also played soccer for Hi-Line United Club and hockey with the Big Sky Wildcats program.
“Rhoda is a very talented student athlete both on and off the ice.” Coach Casey Gerrish of Bobcat’s Hockey, said when discussing Peterson, “She’s not only a skilled musician (she plays clarinet and alto-clarinet in her school’s marching band), but she cares deeply about our relationship with the natural world and is looking to go into Ecological Restoration. Her drive and determination were apparent when I saw her mixing it up with various boy’s hockey teams in Montana, and she’s not afraid to lay someone out. I absolutely love how she plays the game and look forward to her becoming a Bobcat.”
Bailey Waterbury the Head Women’s Soccer Coach added “I am extremely excited about having Rhoda join us this fall! I love having dual athletes on the team. Rhoda is going to be a great presence for us in the midfield and I predict she’ll be an impact player right away for us!”
“I think its really important for us as humans to respect the world we live in and do as little damage as possible so I guess I just want a career in fixing, preventing, and educating about the damage and how we can mitigate it. I’m excited to come to PSC, it’s like home but all the way across the country.” Peterson said. She continued to recognize her inspiration to continue playing is her late Stepfather who was her coach in both sports for many years.
Peterson will be studying Ecological Restoration while attending Paul Smith’s.
