PAUL SMTH'S, N.Y. – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer team faced Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent Paul Smith's College on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The Seawolves would open up the scoring in the 14th minute when junior Louis Sehr (Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) connected a shot off a cross from sophomore Ahmed Al Mshakheel (Biddeford, Maine). Sehr's goal would be the only one of the first half, giving the Seawolves a 1-0 lead at half.
Early in the second half, the Bobcats would even the score when Tim Romero found the back of the net off a cross that would be deflected. In the 67th minute, Paul Smith's took the lead when Liam Curthoys drilled a free kick attempt from 20 yards away.
The Seawolves answered the bell in the 80th minute when L. Sehr redirected a header from captain William Perry (Gorham, Maine). The Bobcats landed another in the 87th minute to reclaim the lead for good on a loose ball in the box.
The Bobcats goalkeeper, Cazmir Couble, tallied six saves. SMCC's goalkeeper, Ian Allen (Avon, Maine) compiled 10.
The Seawolves drop to 4-4 on the season, 2-2 in conference play.
The Seawolves return home and are back in YSCC action on Tuesday, Oct. 1, against the Lynx from NHTI. Kickoff at Wainwright Sports Complex is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
