Mustangs Fall to Paul Smith's College

Portsmouth, NH - CM volleyball team played their last regular season match on Sunday against Paul Smith's College which ended in a loss (20-25, 21-25, 25-22, 16-25).

The Mustangs seemed out of sorts from the beginning of the match, not communicating well on the floor and giving up a lot of points because of unforced errors. They were still able to keep sets one and two relatively close, losing by 5 and 4 points respectively. The Mustangs were able to fight back and win set 3, but Paul Smith bounced right back and won set 4. Aaliyah Smith led the Mustangs with 15 kills on the night, followed by Gia Cooper with 7.

After the match Coach Chapman said, "We just didn't have it today, simple as that. We struggled with unforced errors at the net and at the service line all night. It is really hard to build momentum when we keep giving up points like that. Luckily, we have a week to regroup and prepare to play them again in the Conference Tournament."

The Mustangs might have a chance at redemption this coming Sunday, the 23rd, in the Yankee Conference Tournament. Coming in as the 2nd seed, they get to square off against SMCC in the semifinals and could potentially meet up with Paul Smith again in the finals. The tournament is being held at SMCC and play is scheduled to start at 12pm.

Come down and support the Mustangs as they push for their first Yankee Conference title in their program's history!
