Mighty Oaks Take On Paul SMiths

The men's soccer team made their way up to the Adirondacks this weekend reviving an historical rivalry with Paul Smith's college. As per tradition, the team headed up to the cabins at ESF's newcomb campus to stay overnight, sharing quality meals in the dining hall, doing some community service trail maintenance and having a bonfire on the lake shore. When the first whistle blew to start the match, the Oaks came out with their strongest start this season netting 3 goals by halftime from Krauss, Bettencourt and Goetz. Conceding only one goal in the second half, the Oaks tacked on two more goals, one each from freshmen Kyle Hebler and his second of the game from Colby Krauss. Freshmen Riley Fowler recently shifted from a defensive role on the team to an attacking position. He shared his thoughts on the 5-1 game result: "the transition for me has been exhilarating, I love to get myself into attacking positions on the field to help us score goals and it doesn't matter to me where I am positioned. It felt great to be a part of one of our goals this past weekend and in the bigger picture a motivating win. Im looking forward to helping out more and becoming the team we are supposed to be." With the win, the oaks are able to keep the Barkeater Cup trophy dating back to 2011 making it the 11th match up between the teams (Covid Hiatus 2020 & 2021)
