Lady Seawolves roll to another YSCC victory

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team completed the regular season sweep of Paul Smith's College, defeating the Bobcats 79-63 in conference action on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The Seawolves converted 11 of 20 attempts in the first quarter to outscore the opposition by a 10-point margin. The Bobcats paced the home team 14-13 in the second but SMCC had done enough to go to the locker room at the half ahead 38-24. The home team flushed five three pointers in the third quarter to post an impressive 29 points and put the game out of reach for Paul Smith's.

The Seawolves' bench contributed 45 points in an effort that saw the SMCC lead grow to as much as 28.

Junior co-captain Maddy York (Nobleboro, Maine) recorded her 13th double digit effort of the season totaling 13 points spanning 18 minutes of work. First-year Halle Tripp (Searsmont, Maine) threw in 10 points and senior co-captain Aija Andrews (Norwalk, Conn.) logged four assists and four blocks.

Paul Smith's Jordan Louis led her team with 20 points on 7-16 shooting; Finnley Jacobson netted 17 and pulled down eight rebounds.

SMCC improves to 16-3 overall, 8-3 in conference play. Paul Smith's sports a 6-8 record, 3-6 YSCC.

Next, the Seawolves travel to the Community College of Rhode Island (NJCAA) on Sunday, Jan. 28. Tip-off in Warwick is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
