SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team completed the regular season sweep of Paul Smith's College, defeating the Bobcats 57-55 on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The Seawolves started on a 9-0 run to open the game before the road team clamored back to take an 18-17 lead. The Bobcats would get up by as much as eight points and take a 32-27 advantage into the break.

SMCC rattled off a 21-3 run to begin the second half and to build a 13-point lead near the midway point. Again, the Bobcats showed resilience to cut their deficit to 55-54 with 13 seconds left in regulation. Junior co-captain Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) knocked down two free throws late, but it still remained a one possession game. After a missed three pointer, Paul Smith's was unable to make up the difference at the free throw line to give the Seawolves their sixth straight conference win.

Martinotti totaled 17 points spanning 34 minutes. First-year Adam Savage (Skowhegan, Maine) contributed 14 points and sophomore co-captain Randy Vasquez (Methuen, Mass.) dropped eight to go along with 15 boards.

Paul Smith's Elijiah Pratt led his team with 20 points, 4-8 from beyond the arc.

The results moves SMCC to 15-5 overall, 8-2 in league action. Paul Smith's sinks to 1-16, 0-10 YSCC.

Next, the Seawolves will travel to NHTI to take on the first place Lynx on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Tip-off in Concord, N.H. is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
