SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball team played to a 77-54 victory over the Bobcats from Paul Smith's College in the first of two Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) meetings on Monday, Jan. 8.

The home team found themselves trailing at the break 32-30, but made the necessary adjustments to double-up on Paul Smith's offensive production in the second.

Three finished in double figures for the Seawolves led by first-year Charlie Houghton's (Dixfield, Maine) 16 points. Houghton added eight rebounds and three assists to his efficient night. Sophomore forward Luke Briggs (Augusta, Maine) totaled 15, and sophomore co-captain Randy Vasquez (Methuen, Mass.) logged his second double-double of the season with 12 and 12.

Four Bobcat starters accounted for all but two of their 54 points.

SMCC advances to 10-4 overall, 4-2 in league play. Paul Smith's remains winless at 0-13, 0-7 YSCC.
