Chloe Mattilio Places 3rd in Women's Snowshoe Nationals in Half Marathon; Men's and Women's Relay Teams Victorious
Chloe Mattilio placed third in the half marathon while our men's and women's snowshoe relay teams were again victorious at US Nationals.

Paul Smith's College Snowshoe Racing Team
Half Marathon (March 1st):
Chloe Mattilio (SO: Willow Street, PA) placed third overall in the women's half marathon with a finish time of 2:00:04. Jackie Hering (Mazomanie, WI) won the 13.1 mile snowshoe race in 1:46:48, followed by Amy Rusiecki of S. Deerfield, MA) in 1:59.05.
Joe St. Cyr (FR: Methuen, MA) placed 8th overall in the 13.1 mile snowshoe race in 1:41:35 to run a very impressive top ten at this challenging distance. Jack Mulvihill (SR: New Hartford, NY) placed 14th with a time of 1:51:50 in the half marathon. There were a total of 38 men and 20 women in this inaugural distance at US nationals.
Scott Gall (Cedar Falls, IA) completed an impressive double, winning the half marathon in 1:28:13, again followed by Zach Rivers (Victor, NY) in 1:30:38, and Jeff Quednow (Ogema, WI) in 1:31:38.
National 4 X 2.5K Relays (March 1st):
There were a total of fifteen teams in this year's National Championship Snowshoe Relays, and for the third time in four years, the Paul Smith's College Men's Team returned victorious. The foursome of Bob Bolton, Dave Kucia, Matt Williams and Cody Sears combined to win in 43:58. The men's team won in Frisco, CO in 2012, Bend, OR in 2013 before earning the win again in Wisconsin this past weekend.
The Paul Smith's College women's team has won the national title three years in a row, with Ashley Evans, Lea Anthony, Lauren Brieant and Jen Maguder combining to win in 57:16. The PSC Ladies won in Bend, OR in 2013 and then in Woodsville, VT in 2014.
The second Paul Smith's College men's team (Bean Dip!) placed second in the men's open division with a time of 49:37. Runners on this team included Tyler Dezago, Chris Peterson, Jake Polfleit, and Cody Dennis.
A pair of the Paul Smith's College women ~ Corrie Desilets and Sarah Butler found Tim Buerger (Ironwood, MI) and Chandler Howard (Boyne Falls, MI) available for the relay. This quartet teamed to win the mixed age class/co-ed relay with a finish time of 53:46.
So our entire crew was able to race on Sunday, while our half marathon runners supported their 5K and 10K team mates on Saturday in preparation for their 13.1 mile race.
The 2016 edition of US Nationals will be held in Ogden, Utah at the end of February.
