Paul Smiths College/Phil Saunders Nordic Stadium ~ The Paul Smith's College Nordic team dominated the competition at the Bobcat Invitational over the weekend, showcasing their exceptional talent and determination as they swept both the men's and women's team events.
The excitement kicked off on Saturday with the Co-ed Team Relays where the Bobcats proved to everyone present that they are the team to beat as their unity and skill were unmatched throughout the competition.
Aidan Ripp (Cloquet, MN) and
Jessie Church (Bethlehem, NH) combined their efforts to secure a first-place finish while
Dolcie Tanguay (Fort Kent, ME) and
Philip Matthews (Half Moon, NY) followed closely, coming in second.
Day two of the invitational witnessed the Bobcats' unwavering dominance in the 12k Classic Individual Start. The women's team started the day with a commanding win as the unstoppable
Dolcie Tanguay claimed the top spot.
Jessie Church also showcased her perseverance, securing a well-deserved third place, while
Kaisa Bosek (Alexandria, MN) impressed with a strong fourth-place finish.
The men's team followed suit, leaving their mark on the competition with an outstanding top-to-bottom team performance. The Bobcats had an impressive six men finish in the top 12 as
Aidan Ripp,
Philip Matthews, and
Diego Schillaci (New Paltz, NY) led the charge, securing second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
"This weekend was truly exceptional for our team. The dedication and hard work these athletes put in every day paid off, and we couldn't be happier," said Matt Dougherty, Paul Smith's College Nordic head coach. "This team just loves racing at home, and they had an amazing weekend across the board," he added.
With their commanding wins at the Bobcat Invitational, the Bobcats now set their sights on the upcoming Mansfield Divisional Championships of the Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference in Jackson, NH. As they enter the championship portion of the season, the Bobcats are determined to continue their winning streak and make their mark on the slopes in preparation for the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA) nationals that will be held at Mount Van Hoevenberg in March.
