Bobcat Basketball Sign Six for 2016
Men's Basketball brings in 6 talented players for the first recruiting class.
It looks like Bobcat Basketball has hit the ground running with its first recruiting class bringing in six talented players. Jovan Hammond (top left), Patrick McGovern (top middle), Kris Carroll (top right), Adam Seguin (bottom left), Max Peguero (bottom middle), and Sean Daly (bottom right) have made early commits to bring Bobcat Basketball back to prominence.
Jovan Hammond, a 5'11 combo guard from Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, PA was a 2nd Team All-City and 2nd Team All-Public League selection. He average 17ppg, 6ast, 8reb, and 2stl a game leading his team to a winning record and a birth in the Public League Playoffs. "I chose Paul Smith's because I felt as though Paul Smith's believed in me from the beginning. Being one of the first schools to start recruiting me and sticking it through means a lot. I think there is an opportunity to compete right away as well. I just feel like no other school would have given me a better education or basketball experience than Paul Smith's." Hammond said about choosing Paul Smith's. "Jovan is an explosive player with a great attitude. His ability to create and shoot fits in to what we are wanting to do at PSC."
Patrick McGovern is a 5'10 combo guard from Cheshire, England. He is a transfer from a Southern Vermont College team that went 22-4 and made the NCAA D3 National Tournament. "Competing for a nationally ranked NCAA D3 team, Patrick has the experience and talent to help lead our young team," Coach Boone said.
Kris Carroll is a 6'1 PG from Brooklyn, New York. He attended Hyde School (Woodstock, CT) where he was a NEPSAC Class C Honorable Mention and averaged 13ppg, 7apg, and 5rpg. Carroll also helped lead Hyde to a 15-10 record, back to back SENE Championships. "I chose Paul Smith's because I love the feel I got on my visit. People were very friendly and welcoming. There is also a chance to compete right away and be apart of building a winning program." Carroll said. Coach Boone said about Carroll, "Kris is steady PG that can shoot and create for others. He will be a great fit for our style of play and school."
Adam Seguin is a 6'3 wing from Charles W Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY. He averaged 14ppg, 9rebs, and 3ast finishing 10th in 3 pointers made and 3rd in rebounds in the CNYCL. "It fit me most academically and I love the campus and the whole atmosphere along with the want to start up the basketball program." Seguin said about choosing Paul Smith's. "Adam is a diamond in the rough and has yet to reach his full potential. He will be a great fit here due to his versatility." Coach Boone said.
Max Peguero is a 6'3 wing from Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley, NY. He averaged 16ppg and 8rpg and was a Section 9 All-BCANY Team selection. Peguero on choosing Paul Smith's, "It felt like a nice fit when I visited. The campus wasn't overwhelming and everyone was nice." "Max is a strong player that can play multiple positions for us. His versatility and ability to be a mismatch will fit well in what we are trying to do."
Sean Daly is a 6'4 forward from Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie, NY. He averaged 14ppg and 10rpg leading his team to a 14-7 record and earning All-Colonail Council honors. "Sean will provide a great rebounder for us and also an interior defender. His ability to run the floor fits great with what we are trying to do." Coach Boone said about Daly.
"We targeted these guys because they are winners, competitors, hard workers, and best of all a great young men. All of these are things we look for when recruiting. We are very excited for what is to come for Paul Smith's Basketball and the Bobcat Nation have even more things to look forward too. We have special group here." Coach Boone said of the current class.
