Paul Smith's College hosts High School Volleyball tournament.
March 30th - Paul Smiths, NY - Over the weekend Paul Smith's College held a high school volleyball tournament.
There were seven teams from Sections X, VII and II taking part, and each of the teams played a match versus the other six teams.
The top four teams advanced to the semi-finals with Caroga Lake (Section II) playing Canton (Section X) while Saranac Lake (Section VII) played Tupper Lake (Section X). The club team from Caroga Lake attends Johnstown High School.
Saranac Lake and Caroga Lake prevailed and advanced to the championship match, while Canton and Tupper Lake played in the consolation match. Canton placed third with a win over Tupper Lake to win the bronze medals.
Saranac Lake won in two straight sets over Caroga Lake, but it wasn't easy. Caroga Lake led the entire second set and seemed poised to force the third and deciding set. Saranac Lake regained the momentum late in the second set, while Caroga Lake succumbed to some unforced errors and lost 26 - 24 in the second set.
