PSC’s Williams named YSCC Player of the Week
Nayleece Williams was named YSCC Player of the Week after leading the Paul Smith’s College women’s volleyball to a currently undefeated mark in conference play.
She played a critical role this past week in wins against visiting UMaine Machias, NHTI and Unity College. Williams notched 48 digs in the three matches, including 27 against Unity, and is currently averaging more than five per set.
“I’m grateful to receive recognition from the conference,” Williams said. “There are a lot of great players in this league and I’m happy to be distinguished for my defense and represent the libero position.”
Williams, a junior studying communications at PSC, is coming off a breakout campaign a year ago. The libero earned USCAA All American honorable mention and Defensive Player of the Year awards for the YSCC championship-winning Bobcats.
“Nayleece frustrates teams as they try to put the ball down only to see the hits popped up,” added head coach Ritt Roberge. “She’s a giant in our defense.”
The Bobcats are back in action this weekend as they travel to take on a gauntlet of conference opponents including NHTI and Great Bay Community College.
