Bobcat’s Basketball Host Youth Clinic
Paul Smith N.Y. – The Paul Smith’s Basketball team hosted the first of two free youth clinics this past Saturday at the Paul Smith’s College gym.
“We had a team meeting at the beginning of our preseason to talk about why we love basketball. All team members mentioned how it started when they were young,” said Coach Josh Clemens. “This really inspired us to share our passion for the sport with the community youth and give them a chance to sharpen their skills and meet this year’s team.”
The clinic was run by the coaching staff and players of both the men’s and women’s team and focused on the basics of basketball. This including dribbling, shooting, passing, and most important to Coach Clemens “having fun”.
“I think we can measure success in smiles, not only on the participants and families in the crowd, but also on our student athletes. Two of our team core values are passion and pride. I think a day like Saturday was a perfect way to reinforce that with our team and connect personally with the community,” Clemens continued.
The Bobcats are coming off a strong season where they were able to earn a national ranking of 15th. Coach Clemens and his staff were able to return 14 of last year’s team and think their team culture and leadership will propel them to the next level this year. They open their first game against Cliton Community College at home on November 4th at 7:00 PM
The second clinic will be held Oct 29th from 1-4PM and is open to the entire community ages 6+. To learn more about the event, email Coach at Jclemens2000@paulsmiths.edu
